The mission of Tentative Title is to develop original multi-media projects to be sold or optioned to executive producers, production companies, or other media organizations
My name is Remi and I am a passionate storyteller with my head in the clouds most of the time, dreaming up of new worlds.
It all started on the first day of middle school when the teacher asked us to write any story we felt like in one hour. I was giddy with excitement. This assignment was better than being left alone in a pâtisserie (I love French pastries) because I had a secret: stashed underneath gym clothes, in my bedroom closet, were piles of notebooks filled with stories. In one hour, I had written fifteen pages of a sci-fi story taking place on a far-away planet where the children in my class were in charge of the world.
It was a year later that my Dad, who was then a math teacher at the same school, told me that my story had been passed around in the teachers’ lounge (my Dad didn’t want me to get a big head). Before that, of course, the teacher gave me what I now call my first “coverage.” Both a happy and disappointing experience for me (I hadn’t developed that writer’s thick skin yet). I can only recall extracts from the teacher’s notes: those that made me proud like, “vivid imagination… exciting action… fun characters… very original…”; and, most of all, those that made me cry like, “weak structure… grammar mistakes… naïve dialogue… shallow characters…” I do remember, however, receiving the highest grade in the class (16 out of 20) (bragging a little, Dad).
Many years have passed since my first writing masterpiece was critiqued. Although my native language is French, I have chosen English to write as I love the syntax of the English language. I have written poems, screenplays, short stories, documentaries, promos, commercials, and business documents – but screenplays are my passion.
I know that a lot of my earlier writing is bad, copy-cat of stuff that has being rehashed time and time again to please mainstream readers; I know that some of my recent writing is mediocre and could be above average with more rewrites, but my heart isn’t into it anymore; and then, I have my new writing gems. I know they are good, really good, and worth pursuing so that, one day, my imagined worlds and characters can come to life in someone’s home theater or on a big cinema screen.
Today, I no longer work in solo. I am surrounded by a team of seasoned writers, graphic designers, illustrators, and producers to develop these projects. Together, we have fun creating new worlds that will one day become real!
